Research Committee
Research committees can have many different roles and responsibilities, depending on the organization they serve:
Oversight
Research committees can provide guidance and oversight for research activities. They may set research priorities, ensure resources are in place, and evaluate whether projects align with the organization's mission.
Advisement
Research committees can advise on administrative programs and policies that support research. They may also communicate needs or problems related to research to the organization's leadership.
Review
Research committees can review research proposals to ensure they meet scientific and ethical standards. They may provide feedback on research plans, such as background information, protocol, or analysis plans.
Promotion
Research committees can promote research and scholarship, and engage communities in translating research into action. They may encourage cooperation between different sectors of an organization, and work to reduce barriers to research and creative expression.
Funding
Research committees can allocate funds for research. For example, Kaiser Permanente's Regional Research Committee reviews proposals and allocates funds from its Direct to Community Benefit Investment fund.
